Melba June Kline

Melba June Kline, 68, of Coulterville, IL, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023 in her home surrounded by her family.
June was born on July 14, 1955, in Red Bud Regional Hospital, Red Bud, IL, a daughter to Harrie and Clara (Craig) Hood. On August 15, 1999, she married Klif Kline in Coulterville, IL. June had worked for the World Color Press, Sparta, IL, in the bindery, for over twenty years. She was a member of the Coulterville United Methodist Church, Coulterville, IL.
June enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, and fishing. She recently took up golfing, and enjoyed playing with family. June was an avid rummy player, and a good one, too. She also liked canning salsa, tomatoes, pickles, and beets. She was regionally famous for her zucchini relish. June was gifted in the kitchen, and loved cooking and baking for the people she loved. She enjoyed hosting- whether it be a neighbor’s birthday party, swim parties with nieces and nephews, or Sunday night dinner. She was happiest when opening her home to others. June loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. June was known for saying, “Life on the planet, isn’t always the way you plan it.”
Survivors include her husband of 24 years, Klif Kline of Coulterville, IL; son, Jason P. McKinley of Okawville, IL; two grandchildren, Jacob (Makayla) McKinley of Fort Hood, TX, and Anna McKinley of Okawville, IL; one great-grandchild, Caroline Elizabeth McKinley of Fort Hood TX; three brothers, Glen Hood, Robert “Buck” Hood, and Raymond (Jaci) Hood all of Coulterville, IL; six sisters, Omah (Bud) Jebron of Coulterville, IL, Naomi Bumann of Eden, IL, Helen Harstick of Coulterville, IL, Barbara Rester of Coulterville, Lavon Conley-Hood of St. Libory, IL, and Dorothy Harrell of Elkton, IL; three brothers-in-law, Robert (Bridget) Kasten of Hot Springs Village, AR, Bruce (Valerie) Kasten of Lake of Egypt, IL and Kim Allen Kline of Orlando, FL; one sister-in-law, Ann Steck of St. Charles, MO; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mathew Russell McKinley; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth McKinley; two brothers, Alex Hood, and Russell Hood; two sisters, Mary Hood and Ethel Hood; mother-in-law, Joycelyn Kasten; father-in-law, Kenneth Kasten; and sister-in-law, Anne Kasten.
Funeral services will be held at Coulterville United Methodist Church, Coulterville, IL on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Christine Lippert officiating. Interment will be in Swanwick Bethel Cemetery, Swanwick, IL.
Visitation will be at Pyatt Funeral Home, Coulterville, IL on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Coulterville United Methodist Church, Coulterville, IL or to the Randolph County Humane Society.
