Construction To Begin On $4 Million Ambulance Facility
Ground Breaking For Washington County Ambulance Facility
By Debby Stricker
Construction will start soon on the $4,038,450 Washington County Ambulance Department building on Enterprise Ave. near the Route 127 north of Nashville. It will be located east of the water tower and west of the Nascote Industries.
The project will be financed with an ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act COVID funds)and income from the Prairie State Energy Campus.
County Board Chairman Dave Meyer welcomed contractors and others to the Ground-Breaking held Friday afternoon
The county purchased the 5.89 acre site for $127,250 from Larry Boreup for the facility.
The 12,000 square foot building will replace the facility in downtown Nashville, west of the Court House. The current 2,500 square feet (which does not include a garage), is too small and obsolete, according to the Ambulance Committee and County Board. The current location did not facilitate expansion.
