College Golf Season Wrapping up for Fall
As fall descends, local athletes competing in outdoor sports at the collegiate level are winding things down until spring.
Chloe Kraus, a junior golfer at Methodist University in Fayetteville North Carolina, is working to crack top five on the team. For her career, the former Okawville Lady Rocket has played seven rounds with an average score of 84.6.
Okawville grad Dylan Clark plays on the Illinois College golf team. He competed in the Aurora Under Double Gun September 5 where he posted scores of 80 and 88 for the junior varsity squad.
Eureka College junior Carson Wiese has been on the course for the Red Devils, beginning September 5 at the Blackburn Invitational. The Okawville grad turned in a round of 96. He shot 97 at the Illinois College Fall Classic and put up a round of 87 at the Lincoln Greens Challenge.
Nashville High School graduate Emily Guest plays for Illinois College but was not among the team’s top five golfers this fall.
Cross country runners are also wrapping up their college seasons, and two local harriers are competing among the college ranks.
Okawville High School graduate Cynthia Snyder is a sophomore runner for Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas.
Snyder started off the season at the Lyon College Invitational, where she finished the 5k with a time of 24:47.73. She improved that time with a time of 23:30 at the Chili Pepper Festival September 29.
Nashville High School graduate Ostin Habeck competes for the Kaskaskia College Blue Devils.
Habeck competed at the Bradley Intercollegiate September 15, where he ran the 8k course in 32:31.8. He improved on that time at the McKendree Bearcat Invitational where he finished at 31:36. His time at the Heartland Community College Invitational September 29 was 31:47.
