Dorothy I. Mense

Dorothy Irene Mense, nee Koeller, 88, of St. Libory, IL born Aug. 10, 1935, in St. Libory, died Friday, Sept. 1st, 2023, at Friendship Manor in Nashville.

Dorothy was a homemaker and farmer for many years, a member of St. Liborius Catholic Church, Council of Catholic Women, and the American Legion Auxiliary, St. Libory. She enjoyed cooking at Legion with her friends, quilting, golfing, and in her younger years she was an avid softball player and bowler. But most of all enjoyed taking care of the family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Libory and Rosalia, nee Pranger, Koeller; in laws, Hugo and Hilda Mense; sisters Norma (in infancy) and Joyce Schoenherr; brothers-in-law, Verlan “Buddy” Funk, Nobert Schoenherr, Vernon and Gilbert “Skip” Mense, and Dan Cronin.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Roy “Gussie” Mense, whom she married in St. Libory on September 5th, 1956; her children, Donna Minks of St. Libory, Kay (Steve) Gaebe of Addieville, Tom (Rhonda) Mense, Brian (Michelle) Mense, of St. Libory; ten grandchildren, Michelle Minks (Paul Theiss), Josh (Dana) Gaebe, Stephanie Gaebe (David Smith), Anthony (Ginny) Mense, Morgan (Tyler) Overmann, Madison Mense, Hannah, Nolan, Myah and Trey Mense; seven great grandchildren; sister, Virginia Funk; sisters-in-law, Rosalie Mense and Jeanette Cronin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: From 9 AM to 11 AM Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023, at St. Liborius Catholic Church, St. Libory.

FUNERAL:  A funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023, at St. Liborius Catholic Church with Father Jim Thomas celebrating.  Burial will follow in St. Liborius Catholic Church Cemetery.
