Norman Kahre
Norman Kahre, 89, of Hoyleton, passed away at 4:30 pm on Monday August 14, at St. Louis University Hospital. He was born March 3, 1934 in Jennings, Missouri, the son of Arthur and Ella Haake Kahre. He married Marlene Dries Kahre on June 8, 1957 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton, and she passed away on March 8, 2023.
Also preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Kenneth Kahre. Left to mourn his passing are his sister-in-law Betty Kahre of Maryland Heightsm Mo., along with many nieces, nephews and close friends.
Mr. Kahre was a graduate of Centralia High School. He was a draftsman by trade and worked for National Mine in Nashville and retired from EFI in Centralia. After retirement he continued to work with his wife Marlene as custodians for the public school in Hoyleton, in addition to caring for many lawns. He was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton serving as the Cemetery Supervisor for many years and took pride in keeping the grounds immaculate.
He and Marlene loved to garden. He assisted Marlene in her love of horticulture raising beautiful flowers and plants. Norman collected clocks and worked on many repairs for folks over the years. He and Marlene enjoyed going to antique shops, looking for oil lamps and lanterns.
Funeral services will be held at 11:000 a.m. on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton with the Rev. Nathan Wollenberg officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Hoyleton.
