Bicyclist Killed Near Oakdale Last Tuesday

Randy Love of Nashville had ridden her bicycle thousands of miles in Iowa, Wisconsin, Arizona and other states.
But it was relatively close to home – near Oakdale – where the activity she was passionate about took her life. Love, 73, was killed when a vehicle traveling the same direction struck her in the early evening of August 8.
She was pronounced dead on the scene on Oakdale Blacktop at 6:10 p.m. by Washington County Coroner Mark Styninger last Tuesday.
According to Styninger’s report, it appears that Love was bicycling westbound on Oakdale Blacktop when she was struck from behind by a vehicle traveling in the same direction.
Details on the vehicle which struck her remain unclear, Styninger said in the report. The Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit as well as their Crime Scene Investigation Unit were called to the scene to assist in the investigation.
