Max Aubel
Mr. Max Aubel of Addieville, IL departed this life at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 1:33 A.M. following a courageous battle against cancer. He had attained the age of 23 years, 10 months and 27 days.
Max was born in Breese, IL on July 9, 1999, the son of Bryan and Patty (nee Urban) Aubel. He was united in marriage to Hannah Harris at his home this past Saturday, June 3rd with family and friends there to celebrate the couple’s special day.
Max was a 2017 graduate of Okawville High School. While in high school, he participated in Track, Model United Nations, and Drama Club. He also served on the Student Council and Student Leadership Team. Max was a manager with the Okawville Rockets Basketball Team and was the public address announcer at all the home basketball games. After graduation, Max followed his calling and enrolled at Harding University in Searcy, AR where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Bible and Preaching.
Max served as the minister at the Griffithville Church of Christ in Griffithville, AR until he accepted the call to move west and serve the congregation and the Longmont Church of Christ in Longmont, CO. Max served the church in Colorado for only a short time before his diagnosis and subsequent return to Addieville to begin his fight. After returning home, he attended the Centralia Church of Christ in Centralia, IL. Max’s faith and calling to serve the Lord were an inspiration to many.
Max was an outdoorsman and enjoyed turkey and duck hunting as well as fishing for trout. He was an avid student of The Bible and taught Bible study. He especially loved watching Family Guy with his brother Will, meeting his Grandma Barb and PaPa Larry at Fuehne’s for lunch, hunting with his Grandpa Dave, and he couldn’t get enough of MawMaw’s sweet tea.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Hannah (nee Harris) Aubel; his parents, Bryan and Patty Aubel and a brother, Will Aubel all of Addieville; paternal grandparents, David and Jo Ann Aubel of Addieville; maternal grandparents, Barb and Larry Weik of New Baden, IL and Joe and Cheryl Urban of Collinsville, IL; Max is also survived by aunts and uncles, great aunts and great uncles, cousins, a multitude of friends, as well as the family dog, LuLu.
Funeral services will be held in the gymnasium of the the Okawville Jr/Sr High School in Okawville, IL on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 11 A.M. Interment will be in the Zion Cemetery in Addieville.
Friends may call at the Okawville Jr/Sr High School on Friday from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. and again on Saturday from 9 A.M. until the service hour. Visitors are asked to park in the south parking lot of the school and enter through the south doors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Kerusso Experience at Harding University or to Camp Ne-O-Tez in DeSoto, MO and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
