Anthony “Tony” B. Tweedy, Sr.

Anthony “Tony” B. Tweedy, Sr., 64, of Red Bud, Illinois, formerly of Okawville, Illinois, passed away at 9:28 am, Sunday, May 28, 2023 at his residence.
He was born to the late Robert M. and Gladys A. (nee Whitaker) Tweedy on June 22, 1958 in East St. Louis, Illinois.
Tony married Brenda Bourbon on February 5, 1982 at Olive Branch Lutheran Church in Okawville, Illinois, she survives.
He had worked as a railroad engineer for Alton and Southern Railroad for 20 years.
He was a member of Olive Branch Lutheran Church in Okawville, Illinois. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching Cardinal’s baseball and Blues hockey. He loved attending all his grandchildren’s activities and also collected model trains.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife Brenda Tweedy of Red Bud, IL; two children Liz (Adam) Cowell of Red Bud, IL and Anthony “Tony” (Rachel) Tweedy, Jr. of Nashville, IL; four grandchildren Estella & Maverick Cowell, Leah & Elly Edwards; four siblings Mark (Rita) Tweedy of Okawville, IL, Carey Dulle of Jacksonville, FL, Geraldine Bordewisch of Cottondale, AL, Christine (Jerry) Leopold of Jacksonville, FL; sister-in-law Laurie Kay Bourbon LaMar of Okawville, IL; many Nieces, Nephews, Family and Friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert & Gladys Tweedy; in-laws Clarence & Grace Bourbon; brother Robert M. Tweedy, Jr.; sister Linda Cocklin; and three brothers-in-laws Randy Bordewisch, Kevin Dulle and Jim LaMar.
Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Olive Branch Lutheran Cemetery, Okawville, IL. Pastor Tim Mueller will be officiating.
Memorial contributions can be given in Tony’s memory to Olive Branch Lutheran Church, Okawville, IL or St. John Lutheran School, Red Bud, IL and are being accepted at the funeral home.
