OHS Music Students Travel to Tennessee
By Reed Recker
Fifty-nine members of the Okawville High School Band and Chorus travelled to Tennessee from April 20th-23.
The first destination was Nashville, Tennessee. The first major stop was the Country Music Hall Of Fame. The Okawville Concert Choir performed in the atrium before heading into the CMHOF museum.
Afterwards, students got to have a private session with songwriter James Dean Hicks who has written songs that have been recorded by Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton, The Oak Ridge Boys, Conway Twitty, Randy Travis, and many more.
Next, the students travelled to RCA’s famous Studio B which is where Elvis, Dolly Parton, and many country music stars have recorded music. Both the band and choir got the opportunity to make a recording in the studio.
