Junior Lady Rockets Win Conference Meet

On April 15, the Okawville boys’ and girls’ junior high track teams competed at the Freeburg/Smithton Invitational in Freeburg. The top two teams received trophies and top three competitors in each event received ribbons. The boys placed sixth overall with 35 points. The girls earned third with 63 points, putting them behind Millstadt and Smithton.
The highlight of the meet were two junior high track records were surpassed. Zayden Cepeda set a new school record in the 8th grade 100 which was previously held by Tyler Riechmann. The boys’ 4×400 relay team beat the school record time of 4:43 set in 2014.
