Carl E. “Bud” Gill

Mr. Carl E. “Bud” Gill of Oakdale departed this life at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital in Pinckneyville on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 3:47 P.M. He had attained the age of 77 years, 10 months and 8 days.

Mr. Gill was born on June 4, 1945 in Pilot Knob Township, Oakdale, the son of James R. and Irene (nee Woodside) Gill. He was united in marriage to Genevieve Kiselewski on October 28, 1967 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Todds Mill, and she preceded him in death on August 19, 2019.

Bud was a Sergeant in the 183rd the Fighter Group of the Air National Guard and served as a jet engine mechanic from 1963 to 1969. He was a lifelong farmer and a member of the St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Todds Mill, where he served as trustee for 22 years.

Left to mourn his passing is his two sons, Shane Gill and Chad Gill; two grandchildren, Jacob and Justin Gill; brother, James Richard Gill, Jr.; sister, Patricia (Jerome) Greten of Marissa, IL; other relations and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Todds Mill, IL on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 10 AM with Fr. Carl Schrage officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Todds Mill on Saturday from 8 AM until the service hour.

Should friends desire, mass offerings or memorials can be made to the St. Mary’s Cemetery or Alzheimer’s Association and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
