Morris G. Kaufman

Mr. Morris G. Kaufman of Nashville passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 9:10 AM.  He had attained the age of 88 years, 11 months, and 19 days.

Mr. Kaufman was born on March 26, 1934, in Oakdale, the son of Charles E. and Clara (Kraus) Kaufman.  He was united in marriage to Norma Harmening on June 4, 1960, at St. Paul’s UCC in Nashville and she survives his passing.

Morris graduated from Nashville High School in 1952, and attended one year at SIU and then served in the US Army Signal Corps during the Korean Conflict.  Upon discharge he joined the family barber business for 11 years before taking a job with National Mine Service. In 1970, he was offered a job with the Farmers and Merchants National Bank of Nashville, which he accepted.

Morris served the F&M Bank as an employee/officer for 30 years. In 1987, he was named to the Board of Directors and was Board Secretary for 36 years. Continued education opportunities included graduation from The School for Bank Administration in Madison, WI in 1982 and ABA’s Stonier Graduate School of Banking in Newark, DE in 1988. In 2004, he was recalled from retirement to serve as Interim President & CEO for seven months.

A believer in community service, he was involved in many organizations.  Including, three terms on the Nashville Public Library Board, Charter Member and Past President of the Nashville Jaycees, The American Legion, including 20 years as an officer, Nashville Fire Protection District 20 years as a director, Past President of Nashville Rotary Club, Finance and New Church Building Committees of Trinity Lutheran Church, Charter member and Treasurer 911 Board, Past President of Church Council United Church of Christ, and choir member for 20 years.

Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Norma Kaufman of Nashville; son, Kurt Kaufman of Nashville; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Rae Kaufman.

Per the wishes of Morris and his family, cremation will be performed, and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Nashville on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 11 AM with Rev. Beverly Kahle officiating.  Burial of Ashes will be held at a later date. 

There will not be visitation hours.  

Should friends desire, memorials can be made to the St. Paul UCC Cemetery or to a charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home, who is assisting the family with arrangements.
