High Speed Pursuit Last Week Results in Felony Charges

A DuQuoin man is facing felony charges following a high-speed pursuit that began in Addieville last Monday.
Dakota Wheatley, 29, was charged with aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer following a high-speed pursuit that went through Okawville.
According to the police report, a Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy observed a tan Toyota Camry roll past a stop sign in Addieville without coming to a complete stop.
The deputy pursued the vehicle, which then reportedly accelerated through town onto Illinois State Route 160. The deputy said that while following the vehicle with lights and sirens on, the driver increased speeds to over 100 miles per hour.
