4-H Members Learn Skills Building Wheat Festival Floats

In Honor of the Busy Bees 75th Anniversary

The float entries of the Bees 4-H are a major reason that the Okawville Wheat Festival Parade is recognized as one of the best in the area. The 4-H club has won first place twenty-one times since 1967.
Dwight Shubert has worked on those floats for 63 years – first as a 4-H member and then as a leader. Ron Going has been his cohort, in the design and construction.
Even the year they took second place to the Addieville Area Jaycees was a win for Shubert. “Most of the Jaycee members had learned to build floats when they were in 4-H.
