Village Board Explains Slow Delivery Of Trash Cans
By Debby Stricker
Okawville’s switch to a new contractor, Waste Management, got off to a bad start because a third party contractor did not deliver cans as scheduled. That brought numerous calls to the Village Hall, the board learned at its meeting Monday.
New Police Chief Adam Hall was introduced and sworn in. “The Okawville Board of Trustees welcomes Chief Hall to town,” the board said in a prepared statement. “We are excited to have someone in the position who will bring an updated and youthful perspective to the position to help bring the department into the 21st century. We know Chief Hall will do a great job staffing the Department, as he already has candidates wanting to work for him.”
Mayor Jasper reported that the people who have contracted to buy The Original Springs Hotel effective March 1 have not yet contacted the Village about the planned change. They have not applied for a liquor license or video gaming license.
Jasper said that since the earliest the board could approve a license is at the March 27 meeting, that means there will be a gap of being able to serve alcohol. With no license effective March 1, the supplier of the video gaming machines will remove them, Jasper said.
