John W. Hufker Sr.

John Hufker Sr. of rural Addieville, IL departed this life in the St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese, IL on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 9:38 A.M. He had attained the age of 83 years, 5 months, and 18 days.
John was born in St. Louis, MO on July 31, 1939 the son of Anthony and Louise (nee Kramper) Hufker. He was of the Catholic faith.
Mr. Hufker worked as a machinist at the Clarence Machine Company in St. Louis, before becoming the owner/operator of Venedy Tool and Machine in Venedy, IL. John was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. He was a proud member of the National Rifle Association. In his youth, John was active in scouting, which lead to his later involvement as a Boy Scout and Explorer leader.
Left to mourn his passing are his five children, Julie Hufker-Yelton of Belleville, John Hufker Jr. and wife Cindy of Venedy, Julie Lewis of Belleville, Matthew Hufker and wife Jennifer of Covington, IL, and Nate Hufker and wife Lisa of Shiloh, IL; nine grandchildren, Kyle, Cameron, and Elizabeth Hufker, Tyler Maxey, Dominick Hufker, Walker Lewis-Hummert, and Addison, Alayna, and Alivia Hufker; and two great grandchildren, Bennett and Skylar Hufker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; special friend, Veryla Carver; and former wife Sharon Hufker.
In accordance with the wishes of John and his family, cremation will be performed.
Private services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or to Shriner’s Hospital and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
