Career Educator in Her First Full-Time Teaching Job

Even though Okawville’s new first grade teacher is in her first full-time classroom job, she has been an educator for all of her adult life.

Melanie Krieger was hired at the beginning of the semester to take over the new first grade teacher, her first job in a classroom. But she has been teaching children for years.

“My husband is in the military, so we’ve moved around so much I’ve never been able to make it work,” Krieger said.

That is not to say that the teaching certificate she earned went to waste. She home-schooled her children and helped form home-school cooperatives in some of her husband Jason’s duty stations in Texas, Georgia, Maryland, and South Korea.
