Village Board Discusses Trash Service, Appoints Interim Police Chief

The Okawville Village Board discussed trash service and approved personnel changes in the police department at Monday’s regular meeting.

The board passed Ordinance No. 596, which amended the Code of Ordinances to reflect changes to the rates for garbage collection and recycling in the village.

In a previous meeting, the board had approved a contract with Waste Management to collect garbage following the expiration of the previous contract with Republic Services.

Board member Nathan Dick said that he had fielded several questions about the change from residents, and he said that changes were coming even if the village had stayed with Republic Services as the provider.
