Rita M. Crisel
Mrs. Rita Crisel of Okawville, IL departed this life in the Extended Care Unit of the Washington County Hospital in Nashville, IL on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 8:45 P.M. She had attained the age of 101 years, 10 months, and 12 days.
Rita was born in Okawville on January 20, 1921, the daughter of George and Emma (nee Rossel) Rehbein. She attended Okawville High School up until 11th grade, then completed her senior year at Nashville High School. Rita was united in marriage to Harry Weihe in Okawville in 1941 and he preceded her in death in May of 1995. Rita was also married to Arch Crisel in Twin Falls, ID in October of 1966 and he preceded her in death in September of 1974.
Mrs. Crisel was a faithful member of the St. Barbara Catholic Church in Okawville and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Okawville. Rita worked several years as a waitress at The Lark Tavern in Addieville and she also owned and operated the grocery store in Addieville. She had also previously worked at the Mascoutah Hat Factory. Rita enjoyed going on shopping trips, sewing, and she loved to play Bingo.
Left to mourn her passing is her daughter, Fern Weihe-Fellwock of Okawville; two great nieces, Sarah Wilderman and husband A.J. of New Minden, IL and Jenna Hunter and fiancé Andy Bruck of Okawville; a cousin, Eunice Hettenhausen of Okawville; various Rossel cousins and a host of friends.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a sister, Vera Isringhaus and husband Armin; a stepsister, Bernice Heberer and husband Hubie; stepmother,
Pearl Rehbein; a niece, Karen Ross; her son-in-law, Douglas Fellwock; and her special friend, Bob Blinn.
In accordance with the wishes of Rita and her family, cremation was performed.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated from the St. Barbara Catholic Church in Okawville on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 11 A.M. with Fr. Christopher Anyanwu officiating. Interment of ashes will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the St. Barbara Catholic Church in Okawville on Tuesday, December 20 from 9 A.M. until 11 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, Mass offerings or memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
