Junior Rockets Drop Two of Three Last Week

The Okawville Junior High Rockets picked up one win in three games over the last week.

Despite a big game by Braylen Turner, the Junior Rockets let the game slip away in their 54-48 loss to Carlyle last Tuesday.

Okawville led 41-40 after three quarters of play, but Carlyle outscored the Junior Rockets 14-7 in the final frame.

Turner finished with a game-high 27 points. Clay Maynard chipped in eight points, Teren Schwankhaus finished with seven, and Ayden Foley and Zayden Cepeda added four points apiece.

Okawville bounced back from that loss with a comfortable 50-30 win over Germantown Thursday.

The Junior Rockets outscored Germantown in every period, starting with a 10-4 run to open the game.

Turner paced his squad again with 25 points. Schwankhaus hit double figures with ten points, Blake Carrico had six, Foley added four, Maynard went for three and Cepeda netted two points in the win.

A rough second half doomed Okawville’s chances in Monday’s 42-24 loss to Lebanon.

The Junior Rockets led after the first quarter and were tied at half-time, but Lebanon outscored Okawville 27-9 in the second half.

Turner had 19 points in the loss, with Foley adding four and Cepeda accounting for the Junior Rockets’ other point.
