County Board Passes Budget

The Washington County Boar passed a $21.8 million budget it at its meeting last week. That does not include motor Fuel and Agency Funds.
Accountant Gary Malawy of Kriebiel and Associates explained that the $900,000 annual income from Prairie State Energy Campus for ash field closes the gap between income and expenses. This is in addition to the real estate taxes Prairie State pays.
In the General Fund, Site and construction is the largest expense, at $6 million. Other major expenses are Sheriff/Jail, at $1.8 million, Administration, $1.3 million; County Offices, $721,000; Communications, $.5 million.
