Darrel H.Eggemann Sr.
Darrel H. Eggemann Sr., of Okawville, IL departed this life at his residence surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at 10:46 P.M. He had attained the age of 77 years, 11 months, and 26 days.
Darrel was born in Sparta, IL on November 19, 1944, the son of Harry and Alberta (nee Helmholt) Eggemann. He was a 1962 graduate of Okawville High School. Darrel was united in marriage to Gloria Dannamann in the Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle, IL on September 15, 1963, and she survives his passing.
Mr. Eggemann was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Okawville. He served in the United States Air Force. Darrel worked as a farmer and later on as a truck driver. He also worked as a heavy machine operator and as a security guard. At the time of his retirement, he was the owner and operator of his own semi-tractor trailer. Darrel loved restoring Allis Chalmers Tractors. He also enjoyed woodworking and making things for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he loved his puppy dogs.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Gloria of Okawville; three children, Darrel Eggemann Jr. of Marissa, IL, Debra Voss and husband Darel Sr. of New Minden, IL, and Darren L. Eggemann and wife Donya of Okawville; 14 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dennis Eggemann and wife Debbie of Addieville, IL; a brother-in-law, Bill Dannamann and wife Cathy of Centralia, IL; numerous nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Delva Eggemann, and brothers and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held from the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Okawville on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 11 A.M. with Pastor Eric Wood officiating. Interment will be in the Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery in rural Okawville.
Military graveside rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 233 of Okawville.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville on Friday from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. and at the church on Saturday from 10 A.M. until the service hour.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family of Darrel Eggemann Sr. and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
