Both OHS Cross Country Teams Advance to Sectional

Okawville’s cross country teams traveled to Carterville High School on Saturday to compete in a very windy and warm regional. Both the Lady Rockets and Rockets advanced to compete in the Benton Sectional at Benton Community Park on Saturday, October 29. 

This marks only the third time in school history where both teams advanced to the sectional meet.

The Lady Rockets had a fifth place finish with Caroline Tepe leading the way by placing third overall with a time of 18:56. 

Lydia Luechtefeld (21:34), Lauren Haacke (21:54), Megan Rennegarbe (23:33), and Sidney Charles (23:44) rounded out the scoring for the team. 

Also competing were Sarah Cook (24:04) and Kylie Buehler (25:26).

The Rockets finished fourth overall, with Grant Schleifer setting the pace with a second place finish at 16:33. 

Ryker Obermeier (18:35), Nolan Frantz (18:57), Zander Hasheider (19:50) and Oliver Gaubatz (20:10) rounded out the scoring for the Rockets. 

Joe Jansen (20:11) and Jared Juenger (20:20) also competed.

The OHS Cross Country teams will continue their post season on Saturday, October 29th. The Lady Rockets will race at 9:00 and the Rockets will race at 10:00 at Sectionals in Benton. Any qualifiers/teams will compete on Saturday, November 5th at Detweiller Park in Peoria.
