Duward “Dewey” J. Schwaegel

Duward “Dewey” John Schwaegel, 78, of Addieville, formerly of Belleville, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022 at Belleville Memorial Hospital.

Duward was born October 16, 1944 in Belleville to Rudolph William Schwaegel and Mildred Elizabeth (Scott) Meyer. They both preceded him in death.

 He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia “Pat” (nee Becker) Schwaegel.  She survives and resides in Addieville. Also surviving are their two daughters, Tracy (Scott) Bredehoft of Eden Prairie, MN and Terri (James) Murray of O’Fallon, MO; grandchildren, Annika and Kenneth; his sister, Sandra (Edward) Burkhardt of Kenilworth, IL; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Duward most recently worked as an electronics technician for Marsh Company in Belleville.

He was a proud Veteran who served his country in the United States Army.

Duward enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; he loved spending time outdoors on his John Deere tractor, finding any job, big or small, that needed done. He and Pat enjoyed the serenity of living in the country and the peacefulness that surrounded them. Duward will truly be missed by his family and friends.

Cremation rites have been accorded under the direction of Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights.

Memorial donations may be made the American Cancer Society in Duward’s memory.
