Sharon A. Leahr

Mrs. Sharon Aileen Leahr of Okawville, IL departed this life in the Memorial Hospital at Shiloh, IL surrounded by her husband and daughter after a courageous battle with cancer, on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 10:23 P.M. She had attained the age of 72 years, 8 months, and 13 days.

Sharon was born in Poplar Bluff, MO on January 3, 1950, the daughter of Ernie and Mae (nee Tutterrow) Bridgeforth. She was united in marriage to Michael Leahr in Belleville, IL on February 14, 1986 and he survives her passing. 

Mrs. Leahr worked at the Belleville Shoe Manufacturing Co. until her retirement. She was an avid reader and loved traveling with her husband and taking walks with her daughter Dorothea.

Left to mourn her passing are her husband of 36 years, Michael Leahr of Okawville; six children, Troy (Jenette) Traeger of St. Clair, MO, Jim Traeger of Ziegler, IL, Dorothea (Jerrod) Davis of Okawville, August (Meaghan) Traeger of Bloomington, IL, Scott Leahr of Mesa, AZ, and Michelle (Chip) Allen of San Tan Valley, AZ; one sister, Anna (Mike) Carroll of Chillicothe, IL; two grandchildren, Jonathan (Sherrie) Traeger and Kendra (Wes) Haring; a great granddaughter, Ivory Haring; special friends, Mike Moore and David and Suzanne Slovak; as well and other relatives and a host of friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Bridgeforth.

In accordance with the wishes of Mrs. Leahr and her family, cremation was performed.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to PANCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network) and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
