Mascoutah Man Suspected of Fleeing Police in Oakdale Arrested
A Mascoutah man suspected of eluding police last month was arrested in Ashley last Friday.
Michael Dawson, 42, was arrested by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on outstanding warrants from Madison, Randolph, and St. Clair counties.
Dawson was the man who fit the description of a burglary suspect who authorities say fled after being spotted at B&B Quick Mart in Oakdale on April 30.
During the incident in Oakdale, police say Dawson fled after a sheriff’s deputy and officers from Irvington, Okawville and Nashville arrived on scene. The vehicle he was driving got stuck on Cherry Street and he fled on foot.
In addition to the outstanding warrants, the sheriff’s department will also seek charges for possession of a controlled substance, obstructing a peace officer, and resisting arrest.
Dawson was previously arrested for robbing the First National Bank in Okawville in 2013. In that case, Dawson was taken into custody by Okawville Police Chief Steve Millikin after a pursuit that ended on Interstate 64.
