Teacher Application Pool Dwindles

The West Washington County Unit School district, like those across the country, is seeing fewer people apply for teaching positions.

The district had only three applications for a Junior High English/social studies position that was filled in April.

Ten year ago, there would have been about a 100 applications for a grade school/junior high position, said Superintendent Keith Senior. In contrast, higher level math and science positions have always had fewer applicants.
