Albert E. “Bert” Kujawa

Albert E. “Bert” Kujawa of Nashville, IL departed this life at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon, IL on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at 1:10 A.M.  He had attained the age of 87 years, 9 months, and 28 days.

Mr. Kujawa was born on June 7, 1934, in Blissville Township, Ashley, IL the son of Frank W. and Sophie (Szopinski) Kujawa.  He was united in marriage to Mary Jane Kryger, the daughter of Andy and Martha (Skorczewski) Kryger on May 6, 1957, and she preceded him in death on August 18, 1958.  He later married Rose Ann Pierjok on August 31, 1960, and they celebrated 61+ years of marriage.

Bert worked in molding at Vernois Stove Foundry in Mt. Vernon, IL and at American Steel Foundry in Granite City, IL.  He then worked at Washington County Vocational Workshop in Nashville, IL for 2 years and then he began working at NCHS as a custodian for 11 years, retiring in 1999.  He was also known for his lawn care in Nashville, IL.  In his younger years he enjoyed dancing to polish music, especially dancing the Waltz with Rose Ann.  Bert always enjoyed visiting with his children, their families, siblings, in-laws, friends, playing cards and visiting the casinos.  Bert was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #4384, Nashville, IL.

Left to mourn his passing is his wife Rose Ann Kujawa of Nashville, IL; 5 children, Barbara (Gary J.) Maschhoff of Hoyleton, IL, their children, Tiffany (Kevin) Hink of St. Louis, MO, Keely (Tommy) Washam of Chicago, IL and Clinton Maschhoff (Katie Chavre) of Seattle, WA, great grandchildren, Kellan and Meara Hink; Catherine (Bruce) Irwin of Glenview, IL and their children, Cameron Irwin of Durham, NC and Jackson Irwin (Elizabeth Lusk)of Madison, WI; Michael (Deanne) Kujawa of Mt. Vernon, IL, their children Bryce (Lea) Kujawa of Mt. Vernon, IL and Brooke (Mason) Tate of Mt. Vernon, IL, great grandchildren, Sadie, Zoey and Brodie Kujawa; Kimberly Torres (Brian Curtis) of Walnut Hill, IL and her son Brandon Torres of Herrin, IL; Todd (Allison) Kujawa of Woodlawn, IL and their children, Jacob Kujawa of Evansville, IN and Harlee Kujawa of Woodlawn, IL; 4 brothers, Ernie (Rose Marie) Kujawa, Alex (Marcia) Kujawa, Charles (Janet) Kujawa, and Frankie (Cindy) Kujawa; 5 sisters, Hattie (Stanley) Geppert, Mary Ann (John) Krus, Elsie Flerlage, Maxine (Roy) Wright, and Laverne (David) Schumm; sister-in-law, Joan Schorfheide; numerous nieces, nephews, other relations and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, son, Mark Kujawa; sisters, brothers and in-laws, Frances and Ted Gajewski, Bernice and Leo Kwiatkowski, Walter and Susan Kujawa, Helen and Leo Witges, Lawrence Eugene Kujawa, Bernard Flerlage, Jr., and Charles Schorfheide; 1 niece and 8 nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Nashville, IL on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 10 A.M. with Fr. Andy Knopik officiating.  Interment will follow in the St. Ann’s Old cemetery.

Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, IL on Friday from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. and on Saturday from 7:30 A.M. until 9:30 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, plants and other gifts, memorials can be made to the Washington County Vocational Workshop (WCVW), Community Link of Breese, IL or to a charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
