School Board Rescinds Creation of Dean of Students Position

During an eventful meeting last Thursday, the West Washington County Unit District 10 School Board rescinded the creation of a dean of students position among other matters.

Though much of the meeting was taken up with talk surrounding the future of Lady Rockets’ coach Michelle Hasheider-Burianek, the board was able to complete several matters during the regular session.

Following discussion of last month’s vote to create a new dean of students administrative position, the board voted to rescind that decision.

The position had been created with the idea of moving Jon Kraus into the position. As outlined last month, the dean of students would also act as full-time athletic director as well as fulfill other supervisory duties.

According to superintendent Keith Senior, the dean of students would have been an in-house option for an administrative position if the district was unable to hire a principal for the high school. Since the last meeting, Kim Emrick accepted the position of principal.
