Lorna L. Grote
Lorna L. Grote, 94 of Hoyleton, passed away at 4:08 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2022 at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
She was born on March 2, 1928 at home in Hoyleton, the daughter of John and Anna Meier Boehne. She was baptized on March 9, 1928 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton by Rev. Alfred Fueller and confirmed on April 6, 1941. She married Herbert Grote on September 8, 1948 in Hoffman and he passed away on December 10, 2008.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, William (Elinor) Boehne; two sisters, Laura Boehne in infancy and Olga (John) McCoy; a brother-in-law, Walter Grote.
Lorna was blessed with three children, Gerald (Rhonda) Grote, Keith (Edie) Grote and Lori (Randy) Brammeier all of Hoyleton; eight grandchildren, Trisha (Robert) Boehm, Lucas (Megan) Grote, Stephanie (David) Wathen, Stacey (Brandon) Frederking, Benjamin (Mikayla) Grote, Adam (Shayne) Brammeier, Ethan Brammeier and Jared Brammeier; nine great grandchildren, Avery, Jake, Addison, Evan, Owen, Jackson, Bennett, Mabel and Kipton; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Grote; and many dear nieces, nephews, friends and neigbors.
Lorna was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton. She was a homemaker and farm wife and later worked together with Herb as church custodians at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, baking and spending time with her family playing ball, board games and pinochle. She always looked forward to attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s events.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton with Rev. Nathan Wollenberg officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday and one hour prior to services both at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton or KFUO.
