Village Board Approves Road Work, New Police Vehicle
By Travis Volz
The Okawville Village Board approved concrete work on Hen House Road and voted to buy a new police vehicle at Monday night’s meeting.
Following the recommendation of the Streets and Sidewalk Committee, the board hired Luke Rollie Excavating to provide the labor to replace 390 feet of concrete on Hen House Road at a cost not to exceed $21,900.
Quad County will provide the concrete for the project, which is scheduled to begin later in the spring.
As a result of multiple repairs to one of the police squad cars over the last month, the board approved Police and Liquor Chair Sarah Deterding’s recommendation for buying a new vehicle.
Okawville police will take delivery of a 2022 Ford Explorer Interceptor from Ford Square in Mt. Vernon $39,219 plus the cost of lights, a cage, and other equipment. The final cost will be determined by what equipment can be transferred from the existing squad car to the new one.
