Teens Hit Kidnapper With Ice Scraper, Released
A man who stole a car parked in front of at the Road Ranger in Okawville Saturday told the teens to get out when he realized they were in the backseat. The thirteen year old and fourteen year old refused and hit him with an ice scraper.
The suspect then turned the car around to drop off the teens at the Road Ranger. The parents and others who were aware of the theft and unintended kidnapping pulled the suspect from the vehicle. He was detained until the police arrived.
Matthew Soon-Dong Kellogg, 29, a transient from Des Moines, Iowa was charged with aggravated kidnapping and theft of a motor vehicle. He is being held at the Washington County Jail.
The incident occurred at 6:45 a.m. when the parents went into the Road Ranger and the teens were asleep in the back seat. The family is from St. Louis.
The suspect did not require medical care.
