Masks Optional at Okawville Schools Following Ruling
By Travis Volz
Masks for students at West Washington County Unit Districts were not required Tuesday for the first time in the past two school years.
That follows a temporary restraining order by a Sangamon County judge issuing a temporary restraining order against several of Governor J.B. Pritzker’s COVID restrictions.
The WWCUD School Board will hold an emergency meeting Wednesday to officially approve moving schools into the Tier 1 of the district’s Return to School Guidelines.
Even though the board has not yet approved the move, Superintendent Keith Senior sent an email to parents Monday night announcing that masks would be optional starting the next day.
Under the Tier 1, indoor masking would be recommended rather than required. Social distancing guidelines would remain in place.
