Okawville Finishes Third at State

Only two teams win their final postseason games, and the Okawville Junior Lady Rockets was one of them.

Okawville topped Selmaville 35-18 in the third place game at the SIJHSAA Class S State Finals at Rend Lake Saturday after losing a close emifinal game to New Hope Thursday.

The Junior Lady Rockets came out on the wrong end of a defensive struggle when the fell to New Hope 26-25 in last Thursday’s semifinal game.

It was tight throughout, but Okawville entered the final period leading 23-20. New Hope outscored the Junior Lady Rockets 6-2 in the fourth quarter to knock Okawville into the third place game.

Caroline Tepe led OJHS with seven points, with Kaylie Behrman adding six more. Kenley Hackstadt finished with four points, while Lillian Helbig, Rylan Senior, Addison Hasheider and Brynn Rhodes went for two points apiece.
