Lady Rockets Add Three Wins To Outstanding Season
By Michelle Hasheider-Burianek
The Lady Rockets had a good week of action, gaining two conference wins over Chester and Carlyle and winning a non-conference game over Nashville.
Okawville 46, Nashville 33
On Tuesday evening, Okawville traveled to Nashville for the two school’s first contest against each other this season.
Okawville led 13-6 after one quarter behind 4 first-quarter points by sophomore Alayna Kraus and an early three-pointer by fellow sophomore, Raelyn Obermeier.
Okawville forced Nashville into early foul trouble, but the Lady Rockets had one of their worst free throw shooting nights of the season and failed to capitalize on numerous point opportunities at the line. Okawville led by three at the half.
The Lady Rockets came out strong in the third quarter, led by strong play from senior Sydney Tebbe who scored 5 points in the third period and extended the lead. Megan Rennegarbe and Briley Rhodes both hit key shots in the fourth quarter to further extend the lead. Tebbe and Madisyn Wienstroer each made free-throws down the stretch to seal the victory for Okawville by a score of 46-33.
Scoring for Okawville were Kraus, Tebbe and Rhodes each with 9. Wienstroer added 6. Obermeier and Rennegarbe each had 5. Raegan Luechtefeld had 3 points.
