The Okawville Junior High Lady Rockets advanced to the semifinals of the SIJHSAA State Tournament with a 43-22 win over Summersville Saturday.
It was a close game early, but OJHS opened up a lead in the second quarter and pulled away in the second half with a 16-4 run in the fourth quarter.
Brynn Rhodes had a big game, pouring in 20 points while going a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. Schae Juenger backed her up with eight points, Caroline Tepe six, Addison Hasheider, Jilien Harre and Rylan Senior tipped in two apiece, and Kate Borrenpohl had one point.
In the semifinal round, the Junior Lady Rockets will match up with New Hope Thursday at 7:15 p.m. at Rend Lake College. The winner of that game will advance to Saturday’s championship game at 2 p.m., and the loser will play for third place at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
