County Suffers 36th COVID-Related Death

Another Washington County resident’s death was attributed to COVID, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The death marked the 36th COVID-related fatality since the start of the pandemic, and the first since the end of last month.

Since the start of the pandemic, data shows that hospitalizations and deaths inevitably follow spikes in the number of new cases reported. The IDPH reported that 746 people in Illinois have died since January 14.

The case count in Washington County fell over the last week, with a total of 141 new cases from last Tuesday through Monday, down from 205 reported cases the previous week.
