Vernon F.H. Eigenrauch

Mr. Vernon Eigenrauch of Addieville, IL departed this life in the extended care unit of the Washington County Hospital in Nashville, IL on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 10 P.M. He had attained the age of 95 years and 16 days.

Vernon was born in what was known as Nashville Prairie in rural Washington County, IL on December 21, 1926, the son of William H.C. and Olinda (nee Hackstadt) Eigenrauch. He was baptized at home by Rev. Rauch on January 16, 1927, and confirmed in the St. John United Church of Christ in Plum Hill, IL by Rev. Weltge on April 6, 1941. Vernon was united in marriage to Melba Meier at St. John Plum Hill on May 6, 1962 by Rev. Hosto and Melba survives his passing.

Mr. Eigenrauch served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, having attained the rank of Corporal. He was a lifelong farmer and a lifetime member of the St. John United Church of Christ in Plum Hill, where he served two terms on the church council, one of those as President of the congregation, and served on the Cemetery Committee. He was a member of the Washington County Farm Bureau and the AMVETS. Vernon especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Melba Eigenrauch of Addieville; a son, Wayne Eigenrauch and wife Tammy of Nashville; two grandchildren, Tiffany and Travis Eigenrauch of Nashville; a sister-in-law, Marie Ostendorf of Addieville; as well as numerous cousins and a host of friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Eigenrauch and a brother-in-law, Everett Ostendorf.

Funeral services will be held from the St. John United Church of Christ in Plum Hill on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 11 A.M. with Pastor Don Jones officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville on Sunday from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. and at the church on Monday from 10 A.M. until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. John Cemetery fund or to the St. John Building fund and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
