Shirley J. Seering

Mrs. Shirley Seering of Addieville, IL departed this life in the Washington County Hospital in Nashville, IL on Saturday, December 25, 2021 at 10:37 A.M. She had attained the age of 93 years, 8 months, and 16 days.

Shirley was born in Mascoutah, IL on April 9, 1928, the daughter of William and Edna (nee Brinkmann) Groennert. She was united in marriage to Verlin Seering in the Zion United Church of Christ in Addieville on October 16, 1948, and he preceded her in death on April 24, 2008.

Mrs. Seering was a homemaker and farm wife and had been a cook at the Addieville Grade School. She was a faithful member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Addieville where she was an active member of the Women’s Guild. Besides being active in her church, Shirley was equally involved in the community. She was a member of the Addieville Community Club, Washington County/University of Illinois Home Extension, and the Washington County Farm Bureau. She enjoyed quilting, baking pies, tending to her vegetable garden, and bowling league at the Nashville Bowl. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Left to mourn her passing are her two children, Linda Campfield and husband Lewis of St. Louis, MO, and Allan Seering and wife Judy of rural Nashville; five grandchildren, Christopher Campfield and wife Cassie, Amy Grailer and husband Joe, Sarah Betros, and Alex and Austin Seering; four great grandchildren, Nori, Mabel, and Hazel Grailer and Molly Betros; two nieces, Janet Bagley and husband Mel and Bethel Hale and special friend Don Hansen all of St. Louis; a nephew, Warren Seering and wife Nancy of Boston, MA; a cousin, Eunice Toensing of St. Louis; and a host of friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister in infancy.

Due to Covid-19 health concerns, a private service will be held in the Zion United Church of Christ in Addieville. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

A public memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Okawville Senior Center and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
