Ashley Board Approves TIF
The Ashley City Board voted to approve three ordinances to establish a TIF district at its meeting Monday.
The TIF district that includes the entire city makes home owners eligible for reimbursement for certain improvements/construction expenses.
The goal is to stave off conditions leading to blight that would occur without financial incentives to improve property. The city also wants to attract new families and students to Ashley Grade School, which has had declining enrollment.
The TIF does not add a new tax, but diverts increases in property taxes to a TIF fund.
