Area hospitals are beginning to approach capacity as the number of COVID cases continues to rise in the area.
Last week, another 51 new cases of COVID were identified in Washington County, the highest weekly total since the late-summer surge driven by the Delta variant.
Washington County Health Deparment Administrator Elizabeth Lehde is urging residents to take precautions to help slow the spread of the virus.
“COVID cases are on the rise again, and there are also increases in other illnesses, such as influenza,” Lehde said. “It is our responsibility to keep our communities safe moving forward through the holiday season.”
Lehde and other public health officials recommend vaccinations, booster shots for anyone eligible, avoiding large gatherings and staying home if feeling unwell.
