The COVID case count continued to surge in Washington County, with the biggest weekly total since the Delta variant spike at the end of summer.
The Washington County Health Department reported 41 new cases among county residents, increasing December’s case count to 69.
Last week’s case count continues a trend of increasing numbers of new infections that began in November. Last month saw 101 new cases, and this month is trending toward an even higher case load in the county.
Hospital’s intensive-care capacities in Region 4, which includes Washington County and the Metro East, are at 73 percent.
Vaccination rates in the county have not moved much over past weeks. Just over half (52.6 percent) of county residents are fully vaccinated.
