Okawville Woman Killed in Crash in Clinton County

A woman from Okawville was one of two people killed in a two-vehicle crash in Clinton County last Tuesday afternoon.

Tracey M. Loyd, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at U.S. Route 50 and St. Rose Road at 12:42 p.m.

According to a report from the Illinois State Police, Loyd was driving east on Route 50 just east of St. Rose Road when her vehicle crossed the center line and struck another vehicle head on. 

The other vehicle, driven by Michael Brown, 20, of Trenton, caught fire as a result of the accident. Both Loyd and Brown were pronounced dead at the scene.

U.S. Route 50 was closed for approximately three hours as a result of the accident.
