COVID Metrics Continue Moving in Wrong Driection

By Travis Volz

The upward trend in new COVID cases continued this week, according to reporting from the Washington County Health Department.

A total of 32 new cases were reported last week, bringing November’s total to 70 cases. That is more than the entire total for October (60) with still a week left in the month.

The virus is spreading in county residents in all age groups. The 32 new cases include one child under the age of six, and seven school-age residents.

Total number of cases by age group:

* 10 and under: 1

* 11-19: 7

* 20s: 5

* 30s: 5

* 40s: 4

* 50s: 6

* 60s: 1

* 70 and older: 3

That upward trend is consistent with statewide data. After a late summer surge driven by the Delta variant, COVID case counts showed a consistent downward trend from mid-September through the end of October.
