First Steps for Building New Fire House

Work recently began on the new fire house building for the Okawville Fire Department just west of Dairy Queen.

Construction began on the long-planned project last week after securing financing for the costs of construction.

The Okawville Fire Protection first purchased the 5-acre plot of land located on State Route 177 in 2018 for $87,000.

In May, the OFPD Board of Trustees held a public meeting to discuss plans for the new building. This hearing was part of the process of securing a Rural Development Loan from the United States Department of Agriculture.
