Pediatric COVID Vaccine Available After Approval

Following approval from the Centers for Disease Control, the Illinois Department of Public Health announced last week that children aged five and older are now eligible for COVID vaccination.

Prior to last week’s announcement, the Pfizer vaccine was authorized for children 12 and older. The approval of the pediatric Pfizer vaccine expands the pool of people eligible for vaccination, which health experts say is a key to mitigating the spread of coronavirus disease.

The Washington County Hospital is currently accepting appointments for the pediatric Pfizer vaccines, as well as booster shots for those eligible.
