Another COVID Death Reported, Total Case Count Down From Last Month

By Travis Volz

Another COVID death was reported to the Washington County Health Department last week, the second during the month of October.

According to a WCHD, a man in his 70s recently died of COVID complications, the 34th death in the county attributed to the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic. Earlier this month, the death of another man in his 70s from the county was attributed to COVID.

The overall case count in Washington County was down from September’s total, with 60 in October compared with 158 in the month prior. Since reporting began, a lag time between the person’s death and its reporting has been up to a week or more, which explains why deaths are a trailing indicator to the total number of cases.
