New Camera System Coming to Okawville School Building
By Travis Volz
The West Washington County Unit District 10 School Board voted to purchase new security cameras among other matters at the meeting last Thursday.
Per the recommendation of Superintendent Keith Senior, the board approved a bid for new cameras from Complete Technology Solutions in Sparta at a cost of $72,587.65.
The new cameras will be an upgrade over the existing cameras, which have been in place since the school was built ten years ago.
Senior said that he became aware of issues with the old cameras during an event at school last year.
“I got a complaint that someone stole a car from the parking lot and took it for a joyride,” he said. “I went over the video from the camera with police and I couldn’t identify the vehicle at all.”
