Junior Lady Rockets Split First Two Games
The Okawville Junior High Lady Rockets split their first two games of the year, losing at Nashville last Monday before picking up a win at home against Centralia Thursday.
Nashville 28, Okawville 18
Okawville opened the season on the road last Monday and was on the losing end of a 28-18 score to cross-county rivals Nashville.
It was a close game through the first half, but the Junior Hornettes outscored OJHS 20-6 in the second half to pull away for the win.
Kenley Hackstadt paced the Junior Lady Rockets with four points, and Caroline Tepe and Rylan Senior had three points apiece. Carly Schmidt, Lillian Helbig and Kate Borrenpohl each chipped in two points.
Okawville 50, Centralia 24
Okawville returned home Thursday and put together a convincing 50-24 win over Centralia.
Leading 23-17 at halftime, the Junior Lady Rockets put together a 13-4 run in the third quarter that put them in control on the way to their first win of the season.
Tepe led a balanced scoring effort with 14 points, and Emma Borgmann added a dozen of her own. Hackstadt scored seven points, Jillian Harre had six, Helbig went for three, and Senior, Addison Hasheider and Schae Juenger all finished with two points.
