Village Board Adopts Levy With Nearly 5 Percent Increase

The Okawville Village Board adopted a $108,500 tax levy at its meeting Monday. That is a 4.58 percent increase over the previous year. It was not increased last year.

The tax levy pays for about 15 percent of the Village’s $713,450 budget. 

Major expenses are: Police Department salaries, $190,000; street maintenance, $70,000 Street Department salaries $65,000; and health insurance, $60,000.

Work will soon begin replacing two inch and four inch water lines with six inch lines on six blocks near St. Peter’s Church at the north end of town. Korte Luijohan has the contract.
